The 3rd Annual Treasure Coast Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place at the Tradition Village in Port St. Lucie on Saturday, April 2nd, World Autism Awareness Day, with nearly 100 teams and over 2,500 people in attendance. To date over $70,000 was raised for the Walk with donations continuing to come in making us well on the way to reaching our goal!
Emcee Karen Kinsley, along with the Walk Chairs, Mindi Fetterman, Soraya Cedeno and Sara Kraft, addressed the crowd with moving speeches, motivating everyone to support Autism Awareness Month and to get involved with advocacy efforts on a federal and state level. The Walk Chairs along with their amazing Walk Committee and 100+ volunteers made sure that the day went off without a hitch.
A huge thank you to all our Walk Sponsors; Money Saver Magazine, St. Lucie Jewelry & Coins, Tradition Florida, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department, DBR Group and Suburban Chevrolet. And to Digital Domain and Evan Fetterman from Fetterman & Associates, this year’s Corporate Visionary Sponsors. Also to the many generous local businesses for supplying drinks and snacks and helping to make the day so special!
Geoffrey the Giraffe from Toys“R”Us was on hand along with Slider from the New York Mets to greet the children. From the Kid’s Korner that included bounce houses, face painters, carnival rides, and the Treasure Coast Fire Department fire truck where the kids were able to graffiti, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Parents got great resource information from over 20 vendors and sponsors.
Vice Mayor Linda Bartz welcomed the crowd while parent advocate Cheryl Guth inspired everyone with her personal story. Full Tilt 360 Cheerleaders, Save Our Children, Patrick Gaucher-O’Neill and Jesse Torres all shared their amazing talents. Dominique Armstead beautifully performed the National Anthem and True Crew Dance led the Walk with Geoffrey. DJ Carmine Compana from Dynamic Entertainment kept the crowd grooving to great music throughout the day.
