2010 Puget Sound Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Team Prigg, top team of the Puget Sound, leads the Walk!

On an absolutely gorgeous, sunny, 80 degree morning, 1,500 friends, families, and colleagues joined us on Saturday, August 14 for our ninth annual Puget Sound Walk Now for Autism Speaks event at the Seattle Center’s Center Square.

Our Walk, chaired by the wonderful Mark & Susan Barlet, has raised $160,000 to date with a ton of other donations still coming in! In fact, Mark celebrated his birthday with us since he shared the same day with the Walk. Thank you to the Barlets and our tremendous committee who put together an awesome walk that everyone enjoyed.

Our teams were extremely creative at this year’s Walk with tons of original shirts that were a sight to behold. Plus, as one of our Grand Club Members would check in, they were greeted with cowbells and cheering before being escorted to our special Grand Club Tent for some exclusive goodies and treats. Thank you to Jeremy Prigg, Stephanie Hare, Harmony Orosz, Amanda Schulz, Brandy Bloodgood, Kalissa Hovey, Lori Heagler, Maria Rodriguez, Janis McKelvey, Christina Black, Laura Krone, Erinn Rominger, Lawrence Tanimoto, Maxi De Impala, Jaime Sanders, Nancy Struthers, Theresa Burch, Jennifer Burrell, Julia Walters-Burns, Linda Riggins, Chanel Krueger, Angela Orr, Susan Barlet, and Rebecca Lozano for being part of our Puget Sound Grand Club.

One amazing piece to our Walk this year was our Opening Ceremonies featuring multiple stories from mothers, fathers, friends, and teachers sharing why each of them walk. Each were amazing stories that touched the crowd and really brought home why everyone was there to celebrate that day!!

We would also like to thank our terrific sponsors for our 2010 Event – Key Pharmacy Compounding Center, Honda and Toyota of Seattle, Emerald Outdoor Advertising, and EHL Insurance.  Plus, a special thank you to Team Key from Key Pharmacy who has raised almost $2500 through in-store campaigns and fundraisers throughout the summer! We would be remiss if we didn’t thank our Toys”R”Us Team, headed by Jenny Anderson and Janis McKelvey (a Grand Club member herself), whose team is currently third in the nation for their fundraising efforts. Way to go Team TRU!

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported our families, friends, and colleagues who made it out to enjoy a wonderful morning with us. We couldn’t make the strides we are making without you. Thank you!!!
