2010 Greater Hartford Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Team Christopher cutting ribbon

Despite the tornado warnings for Walk day, the weather cooperated and 8,500 people came out to support the Greater Hartford Walk Now for Autism Speaks at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.  Thanks to the Walk committee and the leadership of our Walk Chair Noreen Simmons, the Walk has raised over $435,000 and is well on it’s way to reaching it’s goal!

There were many incredible activities for the kids including a Sensory Wall, racing cars, the Bio Bus, face painting and other arts and crafts. We were also joined by Congressman Chris Murphy and 8 other local state senators and representatives. Brad Field of NBC Connecticut and Renee DiNino from the River were our MC’s for the day and Kyle Cousins joined in the festivities singing songs about what it’s like to be someone living with autism.  To learn more about Kyle Cousins and how he supports Walk Now for Autism Speaks, click here

The day before the Greater Hartford Walk we had the first ever Warm Up in Waterbury, where about 400 walkers participated and raised an additional $20,000.
