2010 Northern New Jersey Walk Now for Autism Speaks

This past Sunday over 4,000 participants came out in support of the 9th Annual Northern New Jersey Walk Now for Autism Speaks.  Together, we raised over $400,000 (and counting!) to fund the most promising autism research, advance advocacy, provide family services, and raise autism awareness.

Our NNJ Walk Co-Chairs, Patricia Bagley and Melissa Andreacio along with the 15 member NNJ Community Leadership Committee hosted a memorable walk at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ.  Congratulations to our 78 Grand Club Members and 40 Top Teams to date.  Click here to see a full list of Grand Members and click here to see a full list of the Top Teams.

Special guests included Michael Boley of the NY Giants who walked the route with his son, Michael, and greeted the Top Teams with a Special Hat Salute during the stage program.  A special guest performance took place by ELVIS who sang the National Anthem and then wowed the crowd with a set later in the day.  Other performers included the Dance Design Dance Team, Bergenfield H.S. Jazz Band, Close the Wounds Band and singer Melanie Rodriguez.  A great time was had by all!

Geoffrey the Giraffe from Toys”R”Us, Jack the Jackal from the NJ Jackals, the 501st Legion Star Wars Characters, along with the High 4 Costume Characters and Glitter, Chuckles, Poppi and Binky the clowns excited the children with photos, face painting and comedy.

Our National Sponsors, Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us were in attendance with a team of over 100 individuals and a sample of their Differently Abled Toys for children on the spectrum.  Our local sponsor, Fort Lee PBA was in attendance with officers and a crew of EMTs in case of emergency.  Day of Sponsors included Funky Monkey Snacks and Team Breaking Zayna’s Silence.  Their commitment and support to the success of our Walk is outstanding, and so greatly appreciated.  We’d also like to thank our countless in-kind sponsors who donated their special treats.

And last, but certainly not least we thank all our wonderful participants who attended.  There would not be an event without you!  Thanks for all for your tremendous efforts in the success of the 2010 NNJ Walk Now for Autism Speaks – we are truly grateful!
