Sprouts Farmer Markets Celebrating Autism Awareness Month in May!

Sprouts Farmer Market in Scottsdale, AZ

Arizona-based Sprouts Farmers Market has dedicated May as Autism Awareness Month at all 49 locations throughout Arizona, California, Colorado and Texas. The in-store autism awareness and fundraising month is being held in conjunction with a Gluten-Free Jubilee, where customers will save 25% on over 2,000 gluten-free products. In less than two weeks, Sprouts customers showed their support by donating over $160,000!

Doug Sanders, President and COO of Sprouts Farmers Market, is a parent of a child with autism. His 3-year-old son was diagnosed last year. Today his son has over 30 hours of behaviorally-based habilitation per week. “He is the hardest working kid I know,” says Sanders.

To further help support the community, Sanders will be serving as the Walk Chairman for the 2010 Arizona Walk Now for Autism Speaks benefiting Autism Speaks and the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC). Sprouts signed on as the first ever Visionary Sponsor in Arizona and, with Sanders’ leadership, their corporate Walk team has the hope of raising over $100,000. The company’s commitment is far reaching with awareness training to over 2,000 employees and a robust outreach to 500 vendor/partners. Sprouts has pulled out all the stops!

Everything is bigger in Texas and there is no exception at the Sprouts Farmers Market located in Frisco, TX.
