2010 Tampa Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Walkers enjoy the stroll looping North Straub Park in St. Petersburg, Florida.

On Saturday, May 1, 2010, 2,500 participants raised over $180,000 in St. Petersburg, Florida for the Tampa Bay Walk.  Pepsi Beverages Company helped walkers beat the 90 degree heat providing cool drinks for everyone.

The 501st legion of Star Wars characters led the walkers around North Straub Park adjacent to Tampa Bay.  DJ Elvis, Bethany Burnette and Hector Macho Comacho were on hand to celebrate the day.  Thirty vendors in the Tampa Bay area participated in our community resource fair providing information about their services to assist those affected by autism spectrum disorders.  Special thanks to Patricia Sengul for securing media coverage from ABC Action News Tampa and Sharon Genuardi for inviting CBS 10 Connects to interview her on Walk day.  Over thirty individuals reached the grand club status, raising over $1,000!  A huge thank you to the Walk day volunteers, committee members and team captains who made the fourth annual Tampa Bay Walk Now for Autism Speaks a smashing success!

One of the many teams walking for Autism Speaks!
