The Power of Believing!

This post is written by Jennifer Smith Rodrigues, Walk Director of the Lehigh Valley Walk Now for Autism Speaks.

When Lehigh Valley Walk Co-Chair Nancy Miltenberger told me that she was planning to raise money for her team, Double the Adventure, this year through a car wash fundraiser, I smiled and said “OK, Nancy, sounds great!”  Nancy looked at me and said “You are going to be a believer in this fundraiser, mark my words.  It’s a win-win!”  Nancy was absolutely right!

Nancy conducted the fundraiser by partnering with the Kuhnsville Car Wash, a local institution in the Allentown, PA area during the month of February.  For each car wash coupon Nancy sold at its face value of $10, Kuhnsville Car Wash donated $5 to Nancy’s team.  Kuhnsville Car Wash offers this opportunity periodically to different volunteers who are raising money for their cause.  Over the course of a month, Nancy raised $2,250 for Autism Speaks by selling car wash coupons – the most anyone in the Lehigh Valley has ever raised for their charity by partnering with Kuhnsville Car Wash!  We thank Kuhnsville Car Wash for helping Autism Speaks to recognize April as Autism Awareness Month!  Nancy’s team, Double the Adventure, captained by Sheri Miltenberger and Daniel Garrou, has raised over $50,000 for the Lehigh Valley Walk Now for Autism Speaks in three years and is our current 2010 Top Team with over $17,000 raised to date.  Thank you Nancy and thank you Kuhnsville Car Wash!

This year’s Walk is on Saturday, April 17. Visit www.walknowforautismspeaks.org/lehighvalley for more information.
