West Texas Walk Now for Autism Speaks Kickoff

On Tuesday, March 9, 2010, the West Texas Walk Now for Autism Speaks welcomed over 850 guests to the West Texas Walk Now for Autism Speaks kickoff luncheon.  Autism Speaks is proud to kick off the 6th year of this walk with walk sites in San Angelo, Abilene and Permian Basin communities.

The Abilene Civic Center opened its doors to a massive amount of guests for an informational event and a wonderful inspiring program to kickoff this year’s fundraising efforts.  The guest of honor was world renowned Temple Grandin, PhD.  The guests had the exclusive opportunity to have books signed and photos taken with Dr. Grandin.  They left with Walk fundraising materials and spent a day full of learning more about Autism Spectrum Disorders.  A special thank you goes to Melissa Richardson, this year’s Kickoff chair.  She did a fabulous job leading the walk committee and putting on a successful event.

This year’s West Texas Walk Now for Autism Speaks has raised nearly $33,000 which is a record high for this many weeks out from the event! Congratulations to Melissa Richardson, Jenny Frazier and fabulous Walk committee and volunteers on a job well done.
