2010 Miami Walk Now for Autism Speaks

The Start Line for the 2010 Miami Walk

The Miami Walk Now for Autism Speaks celebrated its 10th anniversary along with 18,000 people at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne. The first Walk of the season also set a good pace for the year by raising $570,000!

Carlos Alvarez, mayor of Miami-Dade County, and Commissioner Carlos A. Gimenez started by welcoming the crowd.  The Walk included a Community Resource fair with 42 vendors that included educational sources, therapists, schools, recreational organizations and services. 

Many thanks go to Walk Chairs Michael Alessandri, Michelle Cruz, Marie-Ilene and Thomas Whitehurst for the success of the tenth annual  Miami Walk Now for Autism Speaks.  Huge thanks also to our corporate chair Albert Lopez who helped us increase our sponsorship opportunities by 165 percent!    

Entertainment included The Miami Heat Dancers, Miami Seaquarium characters, World Tiger and Crane Goju Ryu Do Organization, Hip Hop Kidz, Academia Rashel and Maria Lovero, Feathers the Clown, Miami Dolphins Alumni, Healing Horses, Little Farm Petting Zoo, Jesse Williams Ranch, and DJ Gary Gore.  DHL sponsored a wonderful kid’s area with bounce houses, super slides, Psycho Swing, and Orbitron.
