Friday April 13 at 1pm EST, Autism Speaks National Walk Director, Paul Irwin-Dudek, will be hosting a LIVE Chat! Please join us on our Autism Speaks Facebook page!
Paul has been in the “walk” world for over twelve years; as a participant, executive committee member, staff partner, regional director and now leading our 95 Walk Now for Autism Speaks events across North America. He is responsible for integrating mission, raising awareness, building the brand for our signature event and enhancing tools through and for our organizations 400,000 walkers. Join our LIVE Facebook chat to hear about some new fundraising enhancers and learn more about our “5 Key Elements of Walk”.
Hi Paul,
Mother Theresa was once asked if she would like to participate in an anti-war rally. She said , “No thank you, but if you are ever holding a pro-peace rally, please invite me.” The oint being that there’s a universal principle that operates like this: “What you resist, persists.” Or, “What you go to war with — you strengthen.”
In our email to potential donors, we ask them to get enlist in “… the fight against autism… Please join me in my fight…”
So rather than an anti-autism message, how about a pro-research message?
A suggestion (which I’ve re-written in my own emails) is a slight re-wording from this:
Walk Now for Autism Speaks is our chance to make a difference in the fight against autism by raising money for autism research and heightening public awareness. Please join me in my fight as I raise money to help fund essential research.
To this:
Walk Now for Autism Speaks is our chance to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by autism by raising money for autism research and heightening public awareness. Please join me as I raise money to help fund essential research.
Thank you so much for everything that you’re doing,
Stephanie A. Roy

A better re-wording is this:
Walk Now for Autism Speaks is our chance to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by autism. Please join me as we heighten
public awareness about autism and raise money to help fund essential research.
Thanks again,
