The 6th Annual Fort Wayne Walk Now for Autism Speaks was held on Saturday, October 15th at the Allen County Fairgrounds. There were approximately 600 walkers in attendance. The wind may have caused a few changes in plans for families, as it was quite blustery, but it turned out to be a beautiful day. Kids and families had many fun opportunities to check out on Walk day that included 3 giant bounce houses (inside due to wind), karaoke, the IHOP pancake station, a raffle, tattoos, popcorn station, and a toy corner. There was a fantastic resource fair for parents to obtain information from as well. These tables also had many great child friendly activities such as a pumpkin decorating station, create your own crown station, and Toys”R”Us brought many new toys that were a hit.
We want to say a special thanks to Tom and Mary Weisenberger, who were the Co-Chairs for the Walk and the rest of the Executive Planning Committee. These folks are all phenomenal and their organization was absolutely top-notch. Thank you to IHOP for donating your time and resources to make pancakes for the walkers! And also a huge thanks to our national sponsors Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us and our local sponsors Applebees, IPFW, Hopebridge Pediatric Specialists, and WANE-TV for their support!
