More than 7,000 people gathered on a sunny Saturday morning for the 2010 Dallas/Fort Worth Walk Now for Autism Speaks at Rangers Ballpark (home of the American League Champions!) in Arlington to raise funds for autism research. The Walk has raised more than $300,000 to date!
Pop-rock band, The Bright, welcomed participants with their bright music while the 501st Star Wars Storm Troopers, CBS11 Weatherman, Garry Seith, Geoffrey the Giraffe, Texas Rangers Captain, and Ashley Melnick, Miss Texas 2010, (younger sister to Ryan who is on the spectrum) worked the crowd; visiting, encouraging and generally helping everyone have a good time.
The outpouring of support and generosity from event sponsors, donors, 45 resource fair exhibitors, event entertainment, volunteers and more than 400 teams created an INSPIRING event! Thank you to our fabulous committee, led by Joey Barton, who made sure the Walk was a success! Thank you to family and friends who, through their presence and support, showed they were proud of our loved ones with ASD. It was a morning to remind us that we do not face this journey alone!
