On Saturday, November 14, 1300 people joined the Santa Barbara Walk Now for Autism Speaks at East Beach in Santa Barbara, California. The inaugural event raised $190,000.
Autism Speaks was welcomed to the Santa Barbara community with open arms. Brian Kelly, who is a member of the Autism Speaks Board acted as Co-Chair. The walk was emceed by The Bachelor’s Andrew Firestone. Helene Schneider, the Mayor elect of Santa Barbara, also spoke. Special thanks to Salud Carbajal, District 1 Supervisor, who attended and spoke. He has supported the Walk since the beginning and has done both our English and Spanish PSAs.
Special thanks go to Walk Chairs Rebecca Ingram and Brian Kelly for the success of the first-year event. Read an article from the Santa Barbara News-Press here. Read more about the Walk here and become a fan of the Santa Barbara Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Facebook.
