Walkers lined the Fairgrounds pathway after Geoffrey the Giraffe cut the opening banner, kicking off the Walk start.
The Terre Haute Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place on Saturday, October 17, at a new venue, The Vigo County Fairgrounds. 1,700 walkers joined the second annual event, which raised $50,000.
The Terre Haute walkers were warmed from the brisk morning air with hot beverages and heart-pumping activities including a pre-Walk stretch and dance session, horseback rides, hayrides, and a run through the bounce house obstacle course. After Mayor Duke Bennett read a proclamation declaring the day as World Autism Day in Terre Haute, everyone was off to the races, some circling the Walk pathway more than times!
Many thanks go to Walk Chairs Debbie Beard and Amy Walker for the continued success of the event. Read more about the Walk here and become a fan of the Terre Haute Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Facebook.
