On Saturday, October 3, 1,200 people joined the inaugural Richmond Walk Now for Autism Speaks held at Richmond International Raceway, which raised over $69,000. Alpha Xi Delta sorority members from Virginia Commonwealth University greeted attendees, checked in participants and kept the crowd fired up. The Faison School for Autism hosted a wonderful children’s area that included moon bounces, face painting, carnival games, and lots of other great activities. As a call to action, Virginia State Sen. Donald McEachin (D-Henrico) urged the crowd to become more involved in autism awareness and advocacy. Many thanks go to Walk Chair Victoria Snoddy for the success of the event.
